It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear friend, Susan Boyle, who passed away on Saturday, 30th September.
The President, the Council and Staff of The British Chamber of Commerce for Italy extend their sincere condolences to her daughter, Jasmine and to her family.
Susan initially trained as a drama teacher at Padgate College, Manchester Victoria University, and took an optional course in Teaching English as a Second Language. After a particularly long, dark, winter, she left the UK in search of the sun and taught in Tripoli, Libya, and Freeport, Bahamas, before returning to Europe and specialising in teaching English as a foreign language to adults and businessmen.
Susan then taught managers on intensive one-to-one programmes, organised summer courses at UK universities, and managed language schools in Spain and Italy. She set up the Italian subsidiary of a leading multinational specialising in language training for professional purposes and was often asked for advice on courses in the UK (which was the part of her job that she liked best….).
As her company specialised in business English and she received numerous requests for help, she moved to dedicating her time to advising students on the best courses in the English-speaking world.
Message from Jasmine to the BCCI friends:
“Susan passed away peacefully on Saturday after a long, brave, battle with cancer.
Her funeral will be on Wednesday 4 October at 3:30 pm at the crematorium in Varese. Refreshments later at Ser Dany Cafe in Gorla Minore. We would like you to join us, if possible, to celebrate her life.
Please let me know if you can make it. If you join us, please wear something bright and beautiful. No flowers please, instead make a donation to Gli Amici di Rossella Onlus in Busto Arsizio.”
