Event Details
The Covid-19 pandemic has tested institutions in unprecedented ways and challenged the public’s trust in each institution—government, business, media and NGOs—to do what is right.
The 2021 Trust Barometer shows that business has a new mandate to lead in addressing societal challenges, while also reimagining the post-pandemic workplace and the social contract between employer and employee.
With some countries, particularly developed nations, are starting to take post-pandemic steps, a post-Covid era presents an opportunity for social and economic innovation to redefine how we live, work and collaborate and address an urgent set of challenges: an ongoing infodemic, growing inequality, continued racial and gender injustice, climate change and automation’s impact on the future of jobs and the workplace.
This thought-provoking panel discussion will bring together a group of experts to discuss insights from the latest Edelman Trust Barometer report: “The World After Covid.” The group will engage in conversation, exploring how CEOs and other societal leaders can define a post-pandemic agenda for their organizations, as well as the renewed role business has in making a positive impact on society.
The Edelman Trust Barometer has for more than 20 years studied the perception of Trust. The global communications firm believes that this is the ultimate currency in the relationship that all institutions—companies and brands, governments, NGOs and media—build with their stakeholders.

Event Details
About the project
“The Renaissance Series – Sustainable Human Development” is a powerful series of webinars focusing on the individual and the new set of challenges we are all faced with as we operate in the new professional environment that has recently undergone significant twists and shifts. Covid, Brexit and a series of globally relevant social issues have contributed to changing the way we work, the way we communicate, the way we make decisions, in ways that no one had anticipated and without warning or time to prepare.
Dealing with what some called the “new normal” is not just a matter of how good we are at using new technological tools, but it encompasses a wide spectrum of little things which, combined, have the power of making our lives better or worse and impact on our ability to reach personal and professional goals.
With the Renaissance series, the Chamber aims at giving its members fresh, applicable and effective means of rising to the challenge and maximize one’s potential by selecting and engaging experts from each field who are uniquely equipped to provide the participants with food for thought and opportunities of individual human growth.

Episode 1
“FROM VOICE TO ACTION”
Speaker: Luca Viscardi

Episode 2
“NAVIGATING SOCIAL DILEMMAS WITH GAME THEORY”
Speaker: Robin Donald
A control engineer by profession, Robin Donald has for many years been a consultant in business development. Along with his wife, Chiara, they provide consultancy and training via Business Game Theory.
In our internet-driven world we enjoy and increasingly depend on our hyper-connected environment, but the complexity of the interactions in our work and domestic lives isn’t always easy to untangle: a game-theoretical approach can frequently shine a light on complex dilemmas. In this episode of The Renaissance Series Robin and Chiara will examine some of these cases and let you consider various solutions. The approach will be highly interactive, as the audience will participate in a multi-player non-competitive game, led by the Speaker. Through this unique opportunity you will be able to participate in a highly enjoyable and informative session illustrating the role of game theory in present-day social dilemmas.

Episode 3
“BRITISH MINDSET”
Speaker: Elisabeth Weingraber-Pircher
Elisabeth Weingraber-Pircher is an executive coach, experienced interculturalist, and leadership trainer. Having lived and worked in 12 countries on four continents (longest in Italy, Brazil, and the UK) she knows how to apply the latest theories in real-life business situations and support people and businesses in complex environments.
What matters to “the” British? What are decisions based on? How do “the” British interpret concepts such as “trust”, “fairness” and decide what is funny and what’s odd? How does it differ, if at all, from the rest of the world? Looking at these concepts from various cultural aspects will make it easier to build and maintain trust across borders, create buy-in and share some good laughs. It’s not a list of do’s and don’ts, rather an exploration of experiences and guidelines to real-life situations with a sprinkling of British humour.

Join us in celebrating this year together alongside family, friends and colleagues!
Tickets are available at https://britishchamber.it/shop/
Our 2021 Christmas Gala Dinner will be hosted at Galleria Meravigli, in the heart of Milan – Via Gaetano Negri, 6. The event will take place on Thursday 16th December 2021, from 7.00PM.
As you may be aware, ‘Belonging’ is the theme we have chosen for this year’s gala. This is because in recent months we have learnt that in every community, no matter how big or small, supporting and being there for each other is paramount to strengthening relationships and forging bonds between us as a family. There is no greater sense of community than ‘Belonging’.
Although this is a Christmas gala, people of all religions and beliefs are warmly welcomed to join us, after all, the BCCI family is made up of people from all backgrounds and diversity is something that makes us stronger.
The event will be generously supported by The British School of Milan. As tradition dictates, The British School of Milan Chamber Choir will be performing Christmas Carols at the dinner.
📢 SPEAKERS ANNOUNCEMENT 📢
We are delighted to announce John Hooper and Anna Kraczyna as our guest speakers at the Christmas Gala Dinner, whose new and extensively annotated translation of Collodi’s ‘The Adventures of Pinocchio’ has been recently published by Penguin Classics. During the night they will give an exciting presentation in which they will reveal their interesting findings as a result of their studies about Pinocchio, a story with many levels of cultural, social, political, culinary and religious significance – not just a children’s book.

Ne discuteranno Fiorella Passoni, CEO Edelman Italia, e Steven Sprague, Presidente di The British Chamber of Commerce for Italy

We live in a world where data has become the basis for the activity of most areas of economic and social life. In addition to human generated data, the broad dissemination of new digital technologies is driving exponential growth of machine generated data.
Making innovative uses of this data will provide enormous development opportunities in society and will become the main source of increased productivity in business.
This talk will take you through a journey, describing how data is driving the fascinating evolution of industry and finance towards a smart, decentralised approach and how digital twins and the metaverse will blurry the line between real and virtual worlds in business and society.

A huge advocate for the power of diversity in leadership and in boardrooms, we look forward to hearing more about:
- Her personal experience as she progressed through her career.
- Her thoughts on the need for systemic change for now and for future generations, and,
- What practical steps businesses need to take to instil a gender equal culture and environment in business.

Guy Masterson ‘s one-man-show written by Dylan Thomas celebrates a day in the life of a Welsh hamlet, Llaraggyub.
** Performed in English **
In this one-man-show, renowned British actor, Guy Masterson brilliantly recreates 69 characters of Dylan Thomas’s fictitious fishing village Llareggub – Bugger All, spelt backwards! He brings these funny, bawdy, sensual and sometimes sad characters to life using nothing but a wooden chair, dark glasses, creative lighting and a beautifully haunting soundscape by Matt Clifford.
Dylan’s incredible literary and poetic work was first made famous by the legendary celebrity film-star Richard Burton with his unforgettable BBC Radio recording in 1954. Guy Masterson (Burton’s nephew) has created a highly unique and memorable visual performance for the stage. Under Milk Wood has been performed over 2000 times around the world.
A show not to be missed for lovers of the English language.

Reviews:
“It’s a feat of multiple characterisation, impeccable timing, vocal dexterity and precise physical control, performed with tremendous sensitivity and panache!” (The Guardian)
“Absolutely wonderful, intensely therapeutic, intensely uplifting! Guy Masterson is something exceptional!” (BBC Radio Scotland)

Event Details
Under the direction of Maestro Vincenzo Simmarano, the Milan-based choir, Canti Corum, will perform the renowned, British choral piece for choir and orchestra, by the famous, contemporary Welsh composer, Sir Karl Jenkins, called “The Armed Man – A Mass for Peace“, in concert on Tuesday 14th June 2022 in the Basilica di Santo Stefano, in Milan at 8:45 PM.
The concert, which had originally been planned for June 2020 and was postponed twice due to the pandemic, will now mark the 22nd Anniversary of the work which was commissioned by the Royal Armouries in 2000 and dedicated to the victims of the Kosovo crisis.
The concert will be a charity event in aid of the peace and humanitarian works of the Comunita’ di Sant’Egidio, specifically the “Progetti per la Pace” project.
Canti Corum has grown into a large international choir as many singers from all nationalities are coming together to sing this Mass for Peace. Some singers are even flying in from the UK just to sing, in what we believe will be a premiere performance of Sir Karl Jenkins’ work in Milan.
Canti Corum was established in 1998 by a group of music lovers from different backgrounds and musical experiences. It is made up of more than 30 singers led by director Vincenzo Simmarano, who is the author of the arrangement of some songs of the Choir repertoire. Canti Corum is committed to expanding its repertoire, carrying on that multifaceted and versatile features that make it stand out, giving a central role to polyphonic music, without neglecting the other aspects of cultured music as well. Its repertoire also includes folk songs, accurate a cappella performances and performances with instrumental accompaniment.
As this is a charity event, donations will be accepted at the door. Your generosity will go towards the “Progetti per la Pace” project of the Comunita’ di Sant’Egidio.
