HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II

Dear Members,

It is with great sadness that I am writing to you following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, yesterday.

I have little doubt that this is a pivotal moment in the life of the United Kingdom and of the Commonwealth.  We have all been affected by Her Majesty and her leadership and guidance and we are all, in one way or another, touched by her death.  The Queen’s legacy, after a life of service and devotion is clear.  Her example is a beacon towards which we should all seek to travel.  She will be greatly missed.

The Chamber, as many of you will have seen, has published its formal condolence message and we have also been in touch with the Embassy and the Consulate General to express our condolences directly and have signed the Book of Condolence in the name of our Chamber community.

If you would like to sign and leave a message in the condolence books at either The British Embassy Rome or the British Consulate General Milan, please see attached document. Alternativeley you can offer your condolences online at www.royal.uk

We have also felt it appropriate to follow the mourning protocol that is now in place in the United Kingdom and as a result this will have some bearing on the day-to-day activities of the Chamber over the next week or so.  We will continue our general activities, but these will be moderated by the mourning.  Of direct consequence we have decided to postpone the networking Aperitivo scheduled for Tuesday 13th.  Our events later in the year remain as scheduled, but we will of course keep you informed of any changes.

If anyone would like to talk to me, or the Chamber staff, about this fundamental moment we are witnessing, please feel free to contact us.

God Save the King!

Best wishes

Steven Sprague
