BCCI President, Steven Sprague is pleased to invite you to the Chamber’s annual BCCI GALA DINNER 2022 on Thursday 28th September at the magnificient Chiostri di Sant’Eustorgio in Milan. The Chamber’s Annual Gala Dinner is, for the second year running, unlike any other. After last year’s successful Sustanability theme, this year we are celebrating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I).

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I)

Diversity is the presence of differences within a given setting. Equity is the process of ensuring that processes and programs are impartial, fair and provide equal possible outcomes for every individual. Inclusion is the practice of ensuring that people feel a sense of belonging in the workplace.

 

We have  encouraged Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within our community for several years and have made DE&I one of our core values. We have asked our Award Partners to share with us how they have incorporated DE&I into their business models.

 

DE&I is embedded in the ethos of BAT as a thread running through everything that is done, as this empowers people, fosters a vibrant and rewarding work environment and promotes long-term sustainable value. Diversity is regarded from all perspective: generational, background, cultural and gender. Today, over 1,000 employees and more than 37 nationalities work together in the BAT Southern Europe Area, covering 18 markets.

 

 

Since BSI has made a commitment to DE&I issues through the development of the ISO 30415 certification scheme, being the BSI-derived standard, and in 2022 it obtaining accreditation for UNI PDR 125. In its role as a standard-setting body, BSI promotes the development of models and systems aimed at the creation of a corporate and market culture of DE&I.

With regard to DE&I, Intertek has included in its management the main monitoring indicators, which are reported annually as part of its Sustainability Reporting. Specifically, Intertek Italia is the global hub that manages and holds the EDGE (edge-cert.org) accreditation, the best known international standard for large companies. EDGE is the leading global assessment methodology and business certification standard for gender and intersectional equity. It measures where organizations stand in terms of representation, pay equity, effectiveness of policies and practices to ensure equitable career flows as well as inclusiveness of their culture. Intertek is one of the only three providers capable of such certification.

 

 

For several years now Marsh Italia has paid special attention to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion issues, through a constant commitment to all employees and the business community. For example, the ‘ToDEI Lab’ initiative has been active for several years, in which a group of colleagues work together with the company on a voluntary basis to develop ideas and activities aimed at improving ‘equality’ with a focus on gender, generations and work-life balance.
