🇬🇧🇮🇹 On Friday, 19th January, BCCI President, Steven Sprague, attended a Commemoration Ceremony at the Cimitero Maggiore in Voghera together with the Mayor of Voghera, Paola Garlaschelli, Nato Representative and On. Alessandro Cattaneo.
The ceremony was organised by Marco Baratto, a member of the Royal British Legion – National Arboretum Branch, to commemorate the four British First World War soldiers buried in Voghera Cemetery: R Dawson – Royal Army Veterinary Corps; Henry William Holmes- Royal Army Service Corps; George Henry Rose – Royal Engineers and George Timberlake – Royal Army Veterinary Corps.
A group of students from the Istituto Comprensivo S. Pertini of Voghera lead by their English language teacher, Prof. Daniela Gabetta, were also present and contributed to the ceremony: they laid home-made wreaths, sung the British and Italian national anthems and read John MC Crae’s “In Flanders Fields” and Wilfrid Wilson Gibson’s “Back”.
