Last Wednesday I had the honour to start my term of office as President of the Chamber, taking over from Tom Noad. I am sure we are all sad to see Tom step down, he has done sterling work in his term as President and the Chamber is the better for it. I think I speak for everyone in expressing our thanks and wishing Tom well for the future.
I take over at a time when the future is still uncertain, there are still issues with Brexit and of course we all wait to see how the pandemic will play out. That said the Chamber, thanks to the work done by Tom, our Secretary General and the Chamber Staff, is in a far better place than anyone could have imagined at the beginning of the Spring of 2020.
My plan is to build on the work already done and push the Chamber forward. Ensuring its place as a key part of the Italy/UK business environment, whilst maintaining our principles, values and goals, including of course that of promoting the idea of “Doing Business by Doing Good”.
I hope that in the coming months I will be able to get to meet many of you and find out directly what you want from your Chamber.
Finally, I would also like to encourage you to visit our website and note the various events we have planned for after the Summer, not least of which, of course, is the Gala which will be held on the 21st of September in Milan.
I wish you all buone vacanze.
President, The British Chamber of Commerce for Italy
