BCCI’s Star Chamber (top business leaders from our community) met on Tuesday – for the first time by Zoom – to hear Valerio De Molli, CEO of The European House – Ambrosetti, talk about their benchmark Global Attractiveness Index, about Italy’s widely underrated attractiveness, and about the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on Italy’s and the worldwide economy.

The European House – Ambrosetti’s detailed, impressive and startling analysis [ link here ] shows a predicted 8.5% loss in GDP/ PIL in Italy as a result of the pandemic, effectively putting the country back to 1998 in terms of real productivity, the fourth worst year in its entire history.

The Star Chamber’s discussion focused on the challenge ahead: amongst other things, how to encourage all Italians to celebrate and promote the greatness of their country, how to simplify bureaucracy and accelerate digitalisation.

Thanks to our leaders from the British Consulate, The European House – Ambrosetti, AVIVA, UPS, Jaguar Land Rover, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, DWF Law, Tonucci & Partners, Colt Technology Services, HSBC, Deloitte Foundation, Allianz Partners, Barclays, Airport Handling, Intertek, Phillip Morris Italy and Toyota Material Handling, for contributing to the debate and especially to Valerio de Molli and his team, including Cetti Lauteta, Diego Begnozzi and Andrea Merli.
