The Transition Period we are currently enjoying will come to an end on 31 December 2020.  On 1 January 2021, the full effects of Brexit will be felt by everyone doing business between the European Union and the United Kingdom.  The trade negotiations have still not been concluded and many aspects of the future trading relationship remain uncertain.  From 15 October (Boris Johnson’s deadline for conclusion of the trade talks) until December we will be hosting a bi-monthly series of streamed discussions with members of the business community, relevant authorities and experts, aimed at bringing our viewers up to date on latest developments, highlighting in so doing the major issues likely to arise and ways in which businesses can prepare for life  in the post Transition Period world.

Episode 3: Financial markets and services  

In questa terza puntata delle Brexit Updates, spostiamo la nostra attenzione sul mondo finanziario. Verranno affrontate le principali tematiche relative all’operatività delle banche e degli intermediari finanziari nel delicato contesto che stiamo vivendo; verranno, inoltre, delineate alcune “linee guida” per affrontare gli scenari che ci attendono a decorrere dal 1 gennaio 2021. I cambiamenti verranno analizzati sia dal punto di vista della banca italiana (o della branch italiana di una banca straniera), sia dal punto di vista del cliente corporate residente in Italia, che desideri avvalersi di servizi bancari o di investimento offerti da banche stabilite nel Regno Unito (o da branch italiane di banche UK). Inoltre, City of London Corporation presenterà le dinamiche finanziarie del post periodo di transizione, in particolare il “Passporting” e la necessità di aggiustare i modelli di business, il Temporary Permission Regime e l’Equivalence. Il rappresentante delle Law Societies del Regno Unito ci spiegherà, infine, l’effetto che la scadenza del periodo di transizione avrà sul riconoscimento delle qualifiche professionali.
