BCCI Innovation Gala Dinner & Business Excellence Awards 2023

On 25 May 2023 The British Chamber of Commerce for Italy (BCCI) will hold its annual Gala Dinner and Business Excellence Awards ceremony in Milan with Guest of Honour Edward Llewellyn OBE, His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Italian Republic and San Marino. This is the flagship event in the Chamber’s calendar and one which brings together the most prominent representatives of the Chamber’s business community.
This year’s Gala will focus on innovation, which has been a pillar in the programming of the Chamber for many years, alongside DE&I and trade relations between Italy and the UK.

The Chamber’s unique tradition encourages our Community to develop new and creative strategies whilst honouring the past. Like an ancient oak tree, whose long and winding roots are living far beneath the surface and providing each of its branches with the necessary nourishment and stability to thrive, since its creation over a century ago the Chamber and the BCCI Community are integral for the success of our Members’ businesses. Whether innovation is linear or disruptive within our organisations, it is vital that we remain current and adapt to the fast and often unpredictable evolutions of the world in which we live and operate.

Edward Llewellyn OBE
His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Italian Republic & San Marino

Edward Llewellyn (Lord Llewellyn of Steep) was appointed British Ambassador to Italy in February 2022. Ed was British Ambassador to France from November 2016 to August 2021. Before joining the Embassy, he was the Downing Street Chief of Staff to former Prime Minister David Cameron (2010 to 2016) and his Chief of Staff as Leader of the Opposition (2005 to 2010). Ed started his career in 1988 in the Research department of the Conservative Party. In 1992, he worked as an adviser to Governor Chris Patten in Hong Kong, and then in the office of the High Representative in Sarajevo in 1997. He worked with Chris Patten again in Brussels from 1999 when the latter was appointed European Commissioner for Foreign Affairs. In 2002, he returned to Sarajevo as Chief of Staff to the High Representative, Lord Ashdown. He is married to Anne, herself a French national, and they have 3 young children. In 2016, he was appointed Lord Llewellyn and became a member of the House of Lords.
