The International School of Siena opened in 2010 and has developed and grown considerably during the subsequent years. We are the only IB through school in Tuscany, fully authorised for the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).

Learning at IS Siena is exciting and engaging, as students strive for excellence in a climate that is caring and responsive to individual needs and goals.  Our global vision is coordinated by an outstanding team of educational leaders and implemented by our highly skilled and dedicated professional staff.

We have recently relocated to our stunning new school building where we enjoy a spacious, light, modern teaching spaces with a spacious indoor gym, Drama/Dance studio, 2 Libraries, Music and Art rooms and Science laboratories fitted out to the highest standards. Our Early Years spaces are specially designed to complement the Reggio Inspired teaching approach. Our Inspired approach to PYP Early Years also draws inspiration from Reggio Children.

Learning at the International School of Siena is an international experience with students from around 25 nationalities. This leads to a perception of the world that merges understanding of our global context with the development of skills and attitudes that young people require to participate fully in the world of tomorrow, both as national and global citizens.

At the same time, we deeply appreciate the diversity of mother tongue languages in our school community and aim to utilise our diversity as well as supporting each student to appreciate our host country of Italy and become full bilingual in English and Italian. We are so fortunate to be located in a beautiful area of Tuscany where we have access to a variety of cultural and educational resources in our local area which we strive to incorporate into the experience of the students, making connections between the classroom and the world around us.

The company is specialised in quality wines from France and Italy, but is also the exclusive importer for Sugrue South Downs, widely celebrated as the UK’s top boutique sparkling wine producer.

Joseph first caught the “wine bug” with a bottle of Burgundy (Chambolle-Musigny to be precise!), and his selection naturally covers a number of wines from this area, but the portfolio also comprises a wide range of boutique producers from other famous areas such as Champagne, Bordeaux, and of course Italian Tuscany, Piedmont.

Johnston Fine Wines distributes to restaurants, hotels and wine shops across Italy via its own temperature-controlled tax warehouse in Verona, and also provides an e-commerce platform for the final consumer. Kalea Ingegneria, thanks to the collaboration with a highly qualified team of professionals, provides a specialized consultancy in the field of work’s health and safety including workers’ safety training on our eLearning platform.

International English Kindergarten

Our Kindergarten in the centre of Milan offers your child an exciting entry into formal education with dedicated staff focused on the wellbeing and development of each child and state-of-the-art early years resources. Each day, early learners participate in learning activities within a setting that supports their full immersion in the English language in classes taught by fully native English-speaking teachers.

When older EY students leave our kindergarten in Milan, they are confident speaking, understanding, writing, and able to demonstrate their language abilities to a very high level, which provides them with a strong foundation for the next part of their learning journey. Furthermore, our early learning educators are fully-committed to providing a safe, enabling and interactive learning environment that supports and nurtures the social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth of each student within an international community.

We make a conscious choice to consider all students as competent, curious and relational from birth, and we believe that all children have a fundamental right to be considered as individuals, be listened to and be fully seen.
